• East Invicta Development Gala - Session 1 at Margate 1345hrs, 18th May4 May 2024Posted by scott.walker2230@outlook.comBecause of the large number of swimmers it has been decided to start the warm up at 1345hrs. There will be no access to the changing rooms until 1330 - on arrival at Hartsdown swimmers should assemble in the Sports Hall.
  
  Session 2 warm up at Dover will be at 0900hrs on Sunday morning (19th May). Changing rooms can be accessed from 0845
  
  Parking
  There is a 4 hour limit for parking at Dover Leisure Centre. To avoid a fine you will need a parking permit which need to be printed and displayed in your car (https://www.eastinvicta.co.uk/files/PDFs/2024-Development-Gala/Fitness-Fields-Car-Park-19-May.pdf)
  It’s is important that people park in marked bays only at both pools.

  Due to a clash of dates the AGM's will be on Wednesday, 30th November starting with the EI AGM at 7.30pm via Zoom.

  Anyone due to present a Report, if I could have a copy before the meeting this will help me a great deal.

  All relays are now HDW and the programme of events has been amended slightly to reflect this.

Georgina sent out her request for volunteers some time ago and has so far received a total of 14 replies. • 2022 Championships - Level 2 License has been granted29 September 2022Posted by scott.walker2230@outlook.comOur 2022 Championships are now licensed at level 2 License no:2SE221385/6). There are no changes to the qualifying times or entry conditions, however the upper limit times that were previously published no longer apply.
  
  The entry fee also remains unchanged at the 2014 figure of £4.50.

• 2022 Championships - Level 2 License20 September 2022Posted by scott.walker2230@outlook.comAs you all know our full East Invicta Championships programme will be taking place at Dover in October and November. Whilst we currently have a level 3 license, we are hoping to run at Level 2, to allow athletes the chance to qualify for National Short Course champs. To do so, we will need the help of as many licensed and qualified officials as possible, a minimum of 18 being required. Please let our Officials Secretary Georgina Bates (info@scotlandandbates.co.uk) know what sessions you can do as quickly as possible.
  
  As I write this note, at our Development gala which was successfully run at the weekend, the most licensed officials we had for any of the three sessions was 13! If we had run at Level 2 the event would have been downgraded retrospectively to level 3, and the swimmers times would not be considered for the Nationals.
  
  I often hear the excuse that people are waiting to find out if their swimmers have been accepted before volunteering - but the only rejections that ever happen at East Invicta relate to 800 and 1500 free, so that can be no excuse for failing to plan ahead! Please start by sending Georgina a note of your availability when you get home today. ????????

• Olympic Training Camp 20227 July 2022Posted by scott.walker2230@outlook.comOlympic Training Camp – December 28th & 29th 2022
  
  This year the Association have decided that the Olympic Training weekend day will take place on December 29th and 30th, 2022 at Dover Leisure Centre. Each day, swimmers will have two land training sessions and two pool training sessions. David Hemmings, who is National Centre Coach at the British Swimming Performance Centre in Loughborough and he has coached swimmers to world and European titles in recent years, including Abbie Wood, Molly Renshaw and James Wilby. He was part of British Swimming's poolside team at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo and will be part of the England coaching team at the Birmingham Commonwealth games.
  
  Swimmers will be selected to take part on the following basis:
  
  The Top 5 swimmers in each individual age group- 9, 10, 11,12,13,14, 15+ 70 swimmers in total, which will be determined by the Bagcat results as set out in Championship Conditions namely:
  
  Best 50m
  Best 100m
  Best 200m Form stroke (back, breast, fly)
  Best freestyle from 200m, 400m, 800m or 1500m.
  Best Individual Medley from 100m, 200m or 400m
  (9 & 10 year swimmers will not take part in some of these events so will count only those they can enter.)
  
  Swimmers need to enter at least one event from each category in order to maximise their chances of receiving an invitation. The invitations will be given to swimmers at the last session of the championships.

  We are unable to use Hartsdown as the pool is still out of commission following storm damage earlier this year. As the start end of Kingsmead is 95cms and Swim England are reviewing safe diving depths, your Association decided to have all competition at Dover for the time being.
  
  I would also remind all swimmers that invitation to Olympic Training is by way of the cumulative total of BAGCAT points attained at the Championships. The top 5 swimmers in each age group will be guaranteed an invite. At the time of writing the host athletes have not yet been confirmed.

• East Invicta Championships 2021 - Sunday December 19th.16 December 2021Posted by scott.walker2230@outlook.comAfter what has seemed like an eternity, it is so good to be back to competitive swimming and, more importantly, to get together the East Invicta family in what I think we should see as a celebration of the dedication of the swimmers, coaches, volunteers and parents that all give up their time for a sport that we all enjoy so much. Whilst it is a shame it is such a truncated meet this year, we felt that it was important to reestablish the championships so that, with a bit of luck and a following wind, next year will be able to run our full programme.
  
  I would like to thank everyone involved with East Invicta ASA in continuing with the work of maintaining the Association; without them, these championships, and those of future years, would not be able to happen. In recognition of the need to support our enviroinment we have decided to run a paperless gala this year.
  
  So it just leaves me to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year, I hope that you enjoy this year's event.

• eXcel Training at The Duke of York, Dover Friday November 1st24 October 2013Posted by scott.walker@pofm.com41 swimmers attended. During the day they swam between 6000 and 7500 metres, and participated in two land training sessions of one hour each.
